CASE 1 : YOU DON’T MEET ENGLISH PROFICIENCY CONDITIONS

AUTOMATIC ADMISSION FOR PORTUGUESE, SPANISH, FRENCH SPEAKING STUDENTS OR OTHERS WITHOUT ENGLISH PRECONDITIONS: YOU LEARN ENGLISH GRADUALLY WITHIN AUK

Most American and British universities require prospective students who are not Native English Speakers to provide a proof of the English language proficiency or take the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL).

FORTUNATELY, AMERICAN UNIVERSITY OF KINSHASA helps students who don’t have any English level background. AUK provides automatic admission without English Language preconditions to Portuguese, Spanish and French-speaking students in order to increase their access to an American-style education.

Following your admission to AUK, your program of studies will start with academic English courses for 3 months, combined with other academic subjects to be slowly introduced gradually, step by step. Before you know it, by the end of the year one, you will be pleased to notice that you are comfortable with the English language.

CASE 2 : NO NEED OF PROOF OF ENGLISH PROFICIENCY

You do not need to provide proof of English proficiency if you meet the following conditions:

You have lived and attended high school and/or university, for at least three years, in a country where English is the acknowledged primary language?
Have you completed or will you complete an International Baccalaureate Group 1 English
You have completed or will you complete English as Language 1 or Language 2 in the European Baccalaureate curriculum
You have got a minimum score of IBT-70 / PBT-520 in the TOEFL, Test of English as a Foreign Language or in another equivalent test.
